GENERAL INFORMATION:
This scarf is complimentary to the Holiday Lights Hat, specially designed to showcase the beauty and squishiness of the wonderful new additional to Stenli Yarns palette – Amore, a yarn with a shiny braided core. Wear this one and the Holiday spirit will not leave you even after the holidays are over!
The scarf is featuring false cables, resembling holiday trees shining with flickering holiday while the back side represents voluminous snow swirls patterning all around.
The piece measures approx. 38 cm/ 150 cm but is easily adaptable both in width and length and features written instructions.
The pattern is suitable for adventurous beginners.
SIZE:
one size: approx. 38 / 150 cm
MATERIALS:
Yarn:
Stenli yarns Amore, color 104 (red) 150 gr ;
Needles:
Circular or double pointed needles size US 9 (5.5 mm); and
Circular or double pointed needles size US 10 (6 mm) or size
necessary to achieve gauge.
Other: darning needle, scissors.
GAUGE:
Gauge (in Volume Pattern): 16.5 stitches x 24 rows for 10 cm
x 10 cm
ABBREVIATIONS:
st – stitch(es) | p2tog – purl 2 sts together |
k – knit | k2tog – knit 2 sts together |
p – purl | ssk – see Special stitches |
sl – slip st purlwise with yarn to the back | CDD – sl2 together, k1, pass the 2 slipped
stitches over |
Edge (3 sts) – same on RS and WS:
- beginning of the row –slip 1 stitch purlwise with yarn to the front, k2;
- end of the row – work until 3 stitches are left on the needle, k1, sl1 purlwise with yarn to the front, k1.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Using needles size US 9 (5.5 mm) and long-tail cast on
method cats on 63 stitches. Continue working flat in ribbing as follows:
Rib Row 1 (WS): Edge (3 sts), k2, *p1, k1*, repeat sts
between ** 25 more times, p1, k2, Edge (3 sts). 63 sts
Rib Row 2 (RS): Edge (3 sts), p2, k1, *p1, k1*, repeat
sts between ** 25 more times, k2, Edge (3 sts).
Repeat Rib Row 1 and Rib Row 2 until piece measures 4
cm ending with a RS row.
Change to needles size US 10 (6 mm) and continue with
the WS row as follows:
Set-up Row (WS): Edge (3 sts.), k2, *p11, k3*, repeat
sts between ** 2 more times, p11, k2, Edge (3 sts). 63 sts
Continue in Volume Pattern:
Row 1 (RS): Edge (3 sts), p2, *k11, p3*, repeat sts
between ** 2 more times, k11, p2, Edge (3 sts).
Row 2 (WS) and all even (WS) rows, including Row 12:
Edge (3 sts.), k2, *p11, k3*, repeat sts between ** 2 more times, p11, k2, Edge
(3 sts).
Row 3 (RS): repeat Row 1.
Row 5 (RS): Edge (3 sts), p2, *k1, p1, k7, p1, k1,
p3*, repeat sts between ** 2 more times, k1, p1, k7, p1, k1, p2, Edge (3 sts).
Row 7 (RS) and Row 9 (RS): repeat Row 1.
Row 11 (RS): Edge (3 sts), p2, *k5, with the right
needle pick up the first purl stich 5 rows below entering the needles from
above, sl1, with the right needle pick up the second purl stich 5 rows below
entering the needles from above, return all 3 sts to the left needle and work
CDD, k5, p3*, repeat sts between ** 2 more times, k5, with the right needle
pick up the first purl stich 5 rows below entering the needles from above, sl1,
with the right needle pick up the second purl stich 5 rows below entering the
needles from above, return all 3 sts to the left needle and work CDD, k5, p2,
Edge (3 sts).
Repeat Row 1 to Row 12 until the piece measure
approx.145 cm (or as desired) in height. Now repeat Row 1.
Change to needles size 9 (5.5 mm) and continue with
the WS row repeating Rib Row 1 then Rib Row 2 until rib measures approx. 4 cm.
Bind off loosely in pattern.
Cut the yarn and weave in all the end. Wash carefully by hand and leave to dry.
